Gutters in Seal Beach, Fitted to the Roof You Have
We install and repair gutters on older houses, where the fascia, the roof edge and decades of past fixes all affect how water leaves the roof. We start with a look at the gutters and the roof above them, then tell you plainly what needs doing.

Gutters work as part of the roof edge
A gutter is only as good as the board it hangs on. On older homes we often find gutters screwed into soft fascia, pitched the wrong way after an earlier repair, or joined to a newer section with sealant that let go years ago. Water that should leave the roof runs behind the gutter instead, and that is where wood rot and stained siding begin.
So we look at the drip edge, the fascia and the last course of shingles or tile before we talk about new gutters. Sometimes a careful repair and a re-pitch is all your home needs. When the old system is rusted through or the boards behind it are failing, we say so and show you the photos.
Near the coast, salt air is hard on galvanized steel, which is why we usually suggest aluminum or copper for new runs. Both resist corrosion far better and keep a clean finish for years.
What our gutter work covers
Continuous-run aluminum gutters
We roll each run from a coil at your home and cut it to the length of the wall. Joints fall only where a run turns or stops, which leaves water far fewer places to work through. Profile and color are matched to your home.
Fascia and drip edge repair
Rotted fascia is cut out and replaced before a new gutter goes up. We add or correct the drip edge so water falls into the gutter instead of behind it.
Rehanging and re-pitching
Old spike-and-ferrule hangers loosen and let gutters sag. We rehang runs on hidden hangers set at a steady slope toward each downspout.
Downspouts and drainage
Downspouts are sized to the roof area they serve, and outlets are turned away from your foundation, walkways and planting beds.
Half-round and copper for period houses
Where the original look matters, we can install half-round gutters with round downspouts. Copper weathers from bright to brown and, over time, to a soft green.
Guards only where they help
Gutter guards earn their keep under heavy trees. If your roof doesn't need them, we will tell you.

Signs your gutters need attention
- Water spilling over the front edge
- In a steady rain, water sheets over the lip instead of flowing to the downspout. That points to a clog, a reversed pitch or a downspout too small for the roof.
- Peeling paint or dark stains on the fascia
- Water is getting behind the gutter. The board may already be soft.
- Sagging or pulling away
- A gutter that tips forward or gaps from the house has lost its grip on the fascia, usually because the wood or the fasteners have given out.
- Rust lines and pinholes
- Orange streaks along the bottom of a steel gutter mean the metal is thinning. Patching it buys a season at most.
- Washed-out soil at the foundation
- Puddles, bare trenches or splashed mud on the lower wall show where water is landing instead of draining away.
- A patchwork of past repairs
- Two profiles, two colors or caulk at every joint tells us the system has been fixed many times over. Replacing the full run is often the cleaner answer.
How a gutter job runs
- 1
Inspection
We check the gutters, fascia, downspouts and the roof edge from the ground and the ladder. We take photos and walk you through what we found.
- 2
Written estimate
You get a free written estimate listing removal, any fascia replacement, the gutter material and profile, downspouts and hauling. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.
- 3
Removal and repair
Old gutters come down carefully so we can see the boards behind them. Soft wood is replaced, and plants below the work area are covered.
- 4
Install, test and clean up
New gutters go up with hidden hangers and sealed corners. We run water through each section to check the flow, then clear old metal and debris from your yard before we leave.
What affects the price of gutters
Gutter pricing comes down to how many feet we run, what they are made of and what we find behind the old ones. We price after the inspection, in writing, so you see each part before you agree to anything.
- Length and corners
- Total linear footage sets the base, and every inside or outside corner adds fabrication and sealing.
- Material and profile
- Aluminum K-style is the most common choice. Copper and half-round profiles cost more in material and take more time to hang well.
- Condition of the fascia
- This is the biggest unknown on older houses. We point out likely soft spots at the inspection, so a rotted board found during removal is not a surprise.
- Height and access
- Second-story runs, narrow side yards and low overhangs take more ladder work and setup.
Gutter questions we hear often
- Can you replace gutters on just one side of the house?
- Yes. We match the profile and color as closely as current stock allows. If the remaining runs are close to failing, we will mention it so you can decide whether to do them now or later.
- Should I replace my gutters when I replace the roof?
- It often makes sense. New drip edge goes on with a new roof, and gutters set at the same time line up with it properly. If your current gutters still have plenty of life, we can take them down for the reroof and hang them back up once the new edge is on. Our Roof Replacement page covers that work in more detail.
- Is aluminum or copper better near the ocean?
- Both handle salt air far better than galvanized steel. Aluminum is lighter and costs less. Copper lasts longer and suits older homes where the original character matters, but it is a bigger investment.
- Will insurance cover damaged gutters?
- If a storm bent or tore them loose, they may be part of a covered claim. We work directly with your insurance claim and provide photos and measurements, but your adjuster makes the coverage decision. See our Storm Damage Repair page for how that process usually goes.
