ServicesStorm Damage Repair
Storm Damage Repair in Seal Beach
After a winter storm or a hard wind, we look closely at your roof and tell you what the weather actually did, and what was already worn before it arrived. You get photos, a clear repair plan and help with your insurance claim if you choose to file.

Separating storm damage from a roof's long history
On an older roof, storm damage rarely sits alone. A lifted shingle may sit beside a patch from twenty years ago, and a cracked tile may rest on underlayment that has been tired for a decade. You and your insurer both need to know which is which, so we sort that out before anyone talks about cost.
Strong winter storms and dry fall winds tend to find the same weak points: ridge caps, rake edges, loose flashing at chimneys and walls, and old nail lines that have finally let go. We repair those areas with materials matched to what is already on your home, so the fix blends in and holds.
If the damage turns out to be minor, we say so. If it reaches further than a repair can handle, we explain why and talk through roof replacement as one option, without pushing it.
What our storm damage repair covers
- Photo documentation
- We photograph every damaged area along with the roof as a whole, so you have a dated record. Those photos help with an insurance claim and belong in your own files either way.
- Wind-lifted and missing shingles
- We replace torn or missing shingles and reseal ones that lifted but stayed in place. On roofs with some years behind them, we first check that the neighboring shingles still have enough flex to take new nails without cracking.
- Cracked and slipped tile
- Clay and concrete tile can crack under blown debris or shift on aging fasteners. We reset or replace the tiles and inspect the underlayment beneath, since that layer does the real waterproofing.
- Flashing and edge metal
- Bent drip edge, loose step flashing and pulled counterflashing let rain in sideways. We refasten or replace the metal and seal it properly.
- Temporary protection
- When a repair has to wait for materials or dry weather, we cover the opening securely so rain stays out in the meantime.
- Gutter and downspout repair
- Storms often pull gutters loose or kink them. We rehang or replace sections so water leaves the roof edge the way it should. Our Gutters page covers that work in more detail.
Signs your roof took storm damage
Shingles or tile in the yard
Pieces on the ground mean pieces are missing above. Even one gap leaves the underlayment exposed to the next rain.
New water stains inside
A ceiling stain that shows up after a storm usually points to a fresh opening. In a house with a few decades on it, it can also mean an old patch finally gave way.
Lifted edges at the ridge or rakes
From the ground, look for shingles sitting higher than their neighbors or tabs that flutter in the breeze. These edges catch the wind first and tear next.
Bent or loose metal
Flashing that has pulled away from a wall or chimney, or a drip edge that now hangs, gives water an easy path inside.
Debris across the roof
Palm fronds and branches scrape off granules, crack tile and clog valleys. Once the debris is cleared, the surface underneath deserves a careful look.
How a storm repair visit runs
- 1
Your call and an inspection
You tell us what you noticed, and we set a time to come out. The inspection is free, and we walk the roof itself rather than judging it from the driveway.
- 2
Findings in photos and writing
We show you what the storm did and mark earlier wear separately. You receive a free written estimate with each repair listed on its own line.
- 3
Insurance, if you file
If you decide to file a claim, we work directly with your insurance claim and share our photos and measurements with the adjuster. The coverage decision is theirs; our part is making the damage plain to see.
- 4
Repair day
We protect plantings and walkways below, remove the damaged material, check the decking underneath and install the new pieces. Old nails, broken tile and packaging leave with us.
- 5
A final look together
Before we leave, we walk you through the finished work and show you photos of what we found under the damaged layer.

What shapes the cost of storm repair
Storm repairs range from a handful of shingles to whole slopes, so we price each one after seeing the roof. Your written estimate lists every item, and nothing is added without talking with you first. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.
- How much was damaged
- Replacing a few shingles and redoing a full torn slope are very different jobs. The area involved is the biggest driver.
- Roofing material
- Tile repairs take more care and sometimes hard-to-find pieces, especially for discontinued profiles. Shingle repairs usually move faster.
- What is underneath
- If wind let water reach the decking, soft boards need replacing before new material goes on. We only know for certain once the damaged layer is opened.
- Earlier repairs
- Old patches, mixed materials or a second layer of shingles can complicate a tidy repair. Sometimes a wider section needs redoing so the new work ties into something sound.
Storm damage repair questions
Something not covered here? (562) 580-4038
Should I call my insurance company before or after the inspection?
Many homeowners find it easier to have the inspection first. That way you know whether the damage is worth a claim before you file. If you do file, we work directly with your insurance claim and share our documentation with the adjuster.
How can you tell storm damage from old wear?
Fresh damage looks different: clean tears, bright exposed asphalt, sharp breaks in tile and metal bent in one direction. Old wear shows rounded edges, granule loss and weathered cracks. We photograph both and label them so you can see the difference yourself.
Can you match my existing shingles or tile?
Often we can get close, and with tile we can sometimes source salvaged pieces in the same profile. When an exact match no longer exists, we tell you before work starts and talk through options, including placing new material where it shows least.
Will a few missing shingles really cause a leak?
Not always right away, but the underlayment beneath was never meant to face sun and rain on its own. On an aging roof, the gap also lets wind get under neighboring shingles during the next storm. A small repair now usually keeps the damage small.
